MacKerricher State Park - great campsite, 3 miles north of Fort Bragg, 142 sites, facilities, dump station, near the ocean and Lake Cleone, lots of short hikes $16

A variety of BLM primitive beach camp sites are available in the Shelter Cove area.  Most of these sites have no facilities but are great for those who want to really get away from it all.

Clear Lake is situated 45 miles southeast of Ukiah with the fun-filled Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa.  From outstanding entertainment to outdoor recreation at the State Park, you can't go wrong with a vacation to Clear Lake. 

Cow Mountain, with 13 reservoirs and 31 miles of streams on 60,000 acres, offers a variety of recreational activities just east of Ukiah including camping, offroad, fishing, hunting, hiking and more.

Lake Mendocino, north of Ukiah, is 1822 acres on the east fork of the Russian River with boating, camping, fishing, and equestrian staging area.

Pillsbury Lake - Situated 35 miles from Ukiah with sparkling water in a forested setting.  Camping, boating, and great fishing.

Half Moon Bay State Beach - 1 mile south of Half Moon Bay to Kelly Avenue, west on Kelly two miles to the park, 51 sites, dump station, beach access, no reservations but this is a very busy park, arrive early

San Simeon Beach is located near the historic town of San Simeon along Highway One and gives visitors the opportunity to hike, swim, fish and beachcomb.  Camping available.

Morro Strand State Beach is a coastal frontage park featuring outstanding picnic sites.  Camping is also available.

Morro Bay State Park features lagoon and natural bay habitat. The bay’s most prominent landmark is Morro Rock. The park also has a colorful marina and an 18-hole public golf course and camping is also available.

Montana de Oro State Park is a real treasure with 8,000 acres of cliffs, streams, canyons and sandy ocean beaches.  Primitive and equestrian campgrounds and miles of trails to explore.

Santa Margarita Lake - A favorite of local fishermen or those seeking a quiet respite, camping is available although there is no body contact in this water and no ski boats or jetskis.   8 miles from Santa Margarita.

Lopez Lake - Great camping location 15 miles south of San Luis Obispo and minutes from Pismo Beach.  Drive along the coast to Arroyo Grande and stay in one of 354 campsites scattered around the lake.  Swimming, fishing, boating, sailing, more.

Santa Barbara County maintains 25 parks with a host of activities available.  Horesback riding, surfing, swimming, or just walking on beautifully maintained beaches are all available at Santa Barbara parks.

Jalama Beach in Lompoc sits on 23 acres with campsites overlooking the beach or ocean.  First come, first serve.  Showers, convenience store, group and day use are also available.

Gaviota State Park is a popular spot for swimming, picnicking and surf fishing. Gaviota Peak offers a view of the coast and the Channel Islands. Camping is first come, first serve.

Twelve miles south of Santa Barbara, Carpinteria State Beach offers a mile of beach for swimming, surf fishing, tidepool exploring and camping.

Moderate ocean temperature at Emma Wood State Beach in Ventura makes the area a great place for swimming, surfing and fishing.  Camping is first come, first serve.
