Redwood National Park contains some of the most beautiful trails of the Northern California coast.  Both short and long trails through the magnificent redwoods, which are hardly worth seeing without taking a walk!!

Cuneo Creek Horse Camp, 8 miles from 101, numerous trails through the Redwoods, corrals, posts, troughs, hay stalls, manure bins.

California Coastal Trail will provide opportunities to explore the scenic and natural resources of the coast.  50% complete, the trail will be primarily for pedestrians, but will also accommodate bicyclists, wheelchair users, equestrians, and others as opportunities allow.

The Pacific Crest Trail runs from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon, and Washington:

Cow Mountain, with 13 reservoirs and 31 miles of streams on 60,000 acres, offers a variety of recreational activities just east of Ukiah including camping, offroad, fishing, hunting, hiking and more.

Montgomery Woods State Reserve contains 1,142 acres and is the perfect location for a picnic and walk through the 700 acres of both Sequoia and Coastal Redwoods. 13 miles west of Ukiah

Stewart Horse Camp, Pt Reyes, Great trails - through the redwoods to the Pacific.  Water for horses, bring line for picketing, portable corrals and trailer tying, okay.

Coe State Park 80,000 acres of wilderness with 8 horse camps available, some with water, trough and corrals.  Open camping also available.  Morgan Hill

Big Basin State Park is home to the largest continuous stand of Ancient Coast Redwoods south of San Francisco with 80 miles of trails covering lush canyons, chaparral-covered slopes, waterfalls and of course, the Redwood groves.  In Boulder Creek, 25 miles from Santa Cruz. Camping available.

The Monterey Bay Coastal Trail runs along the Monterey Peninsula shoreline for 29 miles from Castroville to Pebble Beach.

The Jalama Beach County Park contains a the trail to Point Conception retraces the route of Juan Bautista de Anza, who brought 250 colonists from Mexico through here in 1775-76.

San Luis Obispo boasts some beautiful parks and trails for hikers, cyclists and equestrians.  Find trail maps at the Open Space & Trail Foundation.

Montana de Oro State Park, 6 miles south of San Luis Obispo, is a real treasure with 8,000 acres of cliffs, streams, canyons and sandy ocean beaches.  Primitive and equestrian campgrounds and miles of trails to explore.

Nojoqui Falls is just a short hike from this county park just north of Santa Barbara.  

El Chorro Regional Park contains Eagle Rock Trail which is a 2 mile hike and winds through oak woodlands and past Indian mortar holes.  6 miles north of Santa Barbara on Hwy 1.

Hike American Canyon or to the top of Machesna Mountain for magnificent views of the Santa Barbara area.

Channel Islands National Park offers recreation opportunities including diving, snorkling, camping, hiking or relaxing on the beach. 

Head inside the Hollywood Hills and you will be pleasantly surprised by Lake Hollywood with a complete trail around the lake, a favorite for walking or jogging. CLOSED
