Mission San Luis Obispo - Established by Father Junνpero Serra in 1772 as the fifth in a chain of 21 California missions, this beautiful mission remains a working parish church.


SLO Railroad Museum - preserving the history of California and Central Coast railroads.


County Historical Museum - Next to the mission, the county's history is housed in a 1905 Carnegie Library and displays changing exhibits and artifacts.


Dana Adobe - In 1837 Captain William Dana recieved one of the largest Mexican land grants in San Luis Obispo County and proceeded to build his home which served as stagestop, voting center.  Nipomo, 30 miles south of San Luis Obispo


Children's Museum - 25 fun-filled exhibits with hands on learning activities for motion, history, science, art, nature and more. 1010 Nipomo St.


San Luis Obispo boasts some beautiful parks and trails for hikers, cyclists and equestrians.  Find trail maps at the Open Space & Trail Foundation.


Montana de Oro State Park is a real treasure with 8,000 acres of cliffs, streams, canyons and sandy ocean beaches.  Primitive and equestrian campgrounds and miles of trails to explore.


Santa Margarita Lake - A favorite of local fishermen or those seeking a quiet respite, camping is available although there is no body contact in this water and no ski boats or jetskis.   8 miles from Santa Margarita.


Lopez Lake - Great camping location 15 miles south of San Luis Obispo and minutes from Pismo Beach.  Drive along the coast to Arroyo Grande and stay in one of 354 campsites scattered around the lake.  Swimming, fishing, boating, sailing, more.
